India and UAE share one of the most consequential Gulf relationships, broadening from oil exchanges to defence cooperation, technology and strategic convergence. Bilateral merchandise trade in FY 2025-26 reached approximately USD 101.25 billion.

Key Agreements

The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed 18 February 2022 and effective May 2022, is India's fastest concluded FTA — boosting Indian exports 27.03% and UAE imports 7.09%. The Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) signed February 2024 and effective 31 August 2024 deepens investment ties.

At the January 2026 summit, outcomes included doubling the trade target to USD 200 billion by 2032, an LNG supply agreement (ADNOC: 0.5 million metric tonnes annually for 10 years from 2028), and stronger capacity building commitments.
